Community-based management models such as local water user committees are widely spread, but clearly not delivering on their promises. However, things may be about to change. Oxfam engaged in an ambitious mission to rebuild Nepal’s failing water systems through an innovative approach: By partnering with LeFil Consulting, they challenged the status quo and identified alternative solutions and mechanisms to help water systems in the region reach full financial sustainability.
